Having seen this location several months ago on an Urban Exploring website, we had absolutely no idea where it actually was but we were very keen to visit in order to document the property as much as we could.
After a huge amount of research, map tracing and name tracing, we were once again
on the road, this time, meeting up with our good friend, UE-
Bee Keepers Cottage…
Visit Date: March 2013
Although we love abandoned residential location, the one downside to exploring them is that it’s very rare to understand the full and true reasons to why they become left behind, often with every possession that the previous owners had, left within. It’s usual practice for explorers to develop our own reasons to why the property may have become in a derelict state based on the information available from within the property at the time of visiting, along with endless hours of research!
The Beekeepers Cottage, as named by fellow explorers, has been derelict for around 8 years. This is based on letters being found within the property dated in 2005. We believe that it has been occupied by the same people since the early 1940’s and for many years was their family home.
That was until tragedy struck.
The ground to the cottage has personal possessions strewn everywhere. Photographs of family and loved ones, hand written letters, refrigerators and 1950’s television sets along with boxes of records. We even came across a number of limited edition books that no doubt would have once been read by the owners of the Bee Keepers Cottage.
To begin with, we thought that there may have once been other buildings located on the site due to the sheer amount of property outside, but a quick property search shown us that there had never been any other buildings, therefore meaning that the huge amount of possessions either became too much for the size of the property, or mindless vandals stripped everything outside.

During our research of this location, we discovered that the owners son, Kingsley, was diagnosed with cancer at a very young age and tragically passed away at the age of 6, suffering from a haemorrhage. Knowing this, made our explore highly emotional, especially when we discovered photographs of a child we believed to be Kingsley, along with school work.
We also discovered a large number of medical records relating to the female owner, discussing counselling and medical treatments for a range of conditions. This, along side a significant amount of medication found within the property leaves us to believe that the owners passed away, potentially from natural causes resulting in this property being left vacant for years to come.
2024 Update
We believe that the property still stands vacant currently, however has fully collapsed in on itself. We are aware that a large number of items have been taken from the site prior to us publishing our photographs and it is sincerely hoped that a member of the extended family has removed these, rather than the higher chance that some pathetic vandal took or destroyed them.
If you know more information about this location, we would love to hear from you!
