We first saw this location on social media and were shocked to see the building in such a sorry state. Excited none the less, we hit the road and headed for this once grand building.
Hornclife Mansion is a Grade II listed former mill owners house dating back to the late 19th century. After the mill owner passed away, it became a old persons home and finally a wedding venue until the doors closed for the last time during 2009. The building has sat decaying ever since.

During our visit, there were at least 6 vintage Jaguar cars abandoned within the grounds along with several other vehicles. There is also a large dance hall and bar in which the ceiling has already fallen.
The main building is in a sorry state of repair and we predict that with the number of people visiting this once stunning building, it’s only going to be a matter of time until it’s lost forever.
After making entry to the building through the basement, we appeared at the main reception area. The smell was strong, the wind was blowing and everything was creaking.
We’re not sure what the future will hold for Hornclife Mansion but we can only hope that the site will be preserved and renovated to its once grand former glory.
